Slip and Fall Lawsuit Filed Against Grocery Store Over String Bean Incident
A woman recently filed a slip and fall lawsuit against a grocery store alleging injuries and disability after a fall after slipping on a string bean.
The slip and fall lawsuit alleges that 55-year-old woman, Carol D., was seriously injured due to negligence, lack of safety features, and some fallen string beans in the aisle way. According to the slip and fall lawsuit, Carol suffered from serious injuries after her fall in a New Jersey ShopRite store.
The slip and fall lawsuit states that Carol was shopping in the produce section of her local ShopRite on Oct. 6, 2014, “when suddenly and without warning, [she] slipped on a string bean on the floor of the store and violently fell to the floor.”
The fall from slipping on the string bean was dramatic and resulted in serious and even long-lasting or permanent injuries. The slip and fall lawsuit alleges that after the accident, Carol D. “suffered severe and permanent injuries, was disabled and disfigured; has suffered and will continue to suffer great pain and torment, both mental and physical.”
The slip and fall lawsuit alleges that negligence from the grocery store allowed this fall and its subsequent injuries to occur. According to the slip and fall lawsuit, ShopRite negligently allowed their string beans to fall out of self-service bins in the produce area, and it was negligent in cleaning that produce up and removing the possibility of customers slipping, falling, and suffering from serious injuries.
Furthermore, the lawsuit claims that ShopRite failed to provide important safety tools, like “walk-off mats or similar safety devices,” in the produce area that they “knew to be ultra hazardous to their customers.”
The slip and fall lawsuit alleges that the injuries and damages Carol D. sustained after her fall at ShopRite caused her to be physically unable to work. The grocery store also owes money for medical expenses caused by these injuries.
If you or someone you know was injured after slipping and falling due to the negligence of a store or other company, you may be able to file a slip and fall lawsuit. A lawsuit cannot take away the pain, suffering, and damages of such a fall, but can help to alleviate the damage of medical expenses and other financial costs.
